The opening ceremony of Tamilnadu Buddhist Sangha Council
In Tamilnadu after about 800 years, the Tamilnadu Buddhist Sangha Council has been again formed and a new flag and emblem has been introduced in this ceremony.
In ancient Tamilnadu, the Sanga comprising of Buddhist Monks, Buddhist Nuns, people who worshiped and followed the buddha which was the reason for the flourishing of art, medicine, literature including administration disappeared from the tamil soil around 800 years before. Today same as before, a unified Buddhist head council has been formed as Tamilnadu Buddhist Sangha Council.
This Unified Buddhist head council will be led by Buddhist Monks and Nuns. The managing members including the Maha sangadhipathi who is the head of the Buddhist sangha along with other Monks and Nuns will select the managing members of the viharas.
The unified Buddhist head council which is the most important council which organises Sanga Paripalana Mahamahangal, Kangana Nigazhvu, Inaugural ceremony for selection of managing members of the Viharas took place on this auspicious day.
The Coordinator of the Buddhist head council Gowtham sanna headed the ceremony. Sangarathinar Kovi Parthiban welcomed the members. Sangarathinars Thanga vayal vaanidhaasan, Dr. Rajavardhanan, Dr. Periyasaamy, Ambeth Anandhan presided the function. R. Bodhichandran read out the pledge and all the 52 managing members of the Viharas agreed and supported the pledge. Maha Dinakaran hosted the function.
Following this, the ceremony for becoming the head monk of the Sangha called the Maha Sangadhipathi was held and Venerable Monk Bikku Dhammaseelar took charge as the Maha Sangadhipathi. Venerable monks Bhuddha Prakasam, Samana Ariya Brahmma, Jeyaseelar, and Venerable Nuns Dheebammal Sundari, Amaravathy were present at the ceremony.
Kanjee Azhagiya Manavaala Jeeyer Madathuravi Sampathkumara Ramanuja Iyer, Jeenakaanji Jainamada Sarva Jeenalaya Paripaalagar Lakshmisen pattaragar Maha Swamigal, Ramakrishna Mada Mootha Thuravi Swami Jananamayanam Thaji, Chengalpattu Maraimaavatta Aayarin Podhupadhil Guru N. Pakkiya Rejeesh, Kaanjee Aikkiya Jamath Thalaivar Janapji. Mohammed were guests at the function and in front of them, the flag and emblem of the Tamilnadu Buddhist Sangha Council were introduced.
The managing members of the viharas were given Identity Cards. The concluding remarks and vote of thanks were presented by Kanjee R. Thirunavukarasar.
